Company Introduction

Hydrogen Sense Technology Co., Ltd. (H2SENSE), founded in 2014 in Suzhou Industrial Park, is a high-tech enterprise specializing in the research, development, and production of thin-film hydrogen sensors. The company’s production base is located in the China (Changsha) Innovative Design Industrial Park, Yuhua District, Changsha City, with an annual production capacity of 2,500 units.

H2SENSE’s core products are based on Pd-alloy hydrogen sensing technology, offering comprehensive solutions for hydrogen online monitoring and analysis systems. These include design, R&D, production, and data analysis services. Current applications of its products span multiple fields:

  • Hydrogen detection in Hualong One Nuclear Power Plant

  • Online monitoring of hydrogen in spent nuclear fuel

  • In-situ monitoring of anode hydrogen during water electrolysis for hydrogen production

  • Detection of dissolved hydrogen in transformer oil and stator water-cooled generators

H2SENSE has established China’s first 4-inch MEMS production line for thin-film hydrogen sensors, achieving full-scale mass production capabilities. The production line covers the entire MEMS chip development process, including photolithography bonding, dry etching, thin-film deposition, and packaging testing.

Presentation of Solutions

Product 1: Multi-Parameter Sensor for Oil Condition Monitoring in Low-Oil Equipment

Cable-Free Wireless Sensor
The detection of dissolved hydrogen in oil is critical for early fault warnings in oil-filled electrical equipment. The MODEL 3900 sensor, powered by a lithium-silver oxide battery and utilizing LoRa (Long Range) wireless transmission, enables real-time monitoring of hydrogen concentration in low-oil equipment. Its compact design (300g, excluding connectors) allows direct installation on oil sampling valves without cable laying. When hydrogen concentration or its rate of change exceeds safe thresholds, the device triggers an alarm to prevent equipment failure.

Split-Design Multi-Parameter Sensor
Oil-filled bushings and instrument transformers are critical components in power systems, yet their structural constraints (e.g., narrow installation space, vibration risks) make live detection challenging. Traditional methods using T-junctions or cross-junctions create "dead oil zones," reducing measurement accuracy and increasing leakage risks.

The MODEL 3600 addresses these issues with a split-design structure:

  • A front-end sensor (weight <100g) minimizes mechanical stress on oil sampling valves.

  • Integrated monitoring of four parameters: dissolved hydrogen, oil pressure, moisture, and temperature.

  • Armored cable (30cm) connects the sensor to the data analysis unit.

Applications: Installed in ultra-high voltage substations (e.g., Quancheng, Shandong; Wuhan, Hubei; Ordos, Mengdong).

Product 2: Dissolved Hydrogen Sensor in Oil

The MODEL 3300 series utilizes Pd-alloy thin-film hydrogen sensing technology for direct immersion in transformer oil, eliminating the need for oil-gas separation. Key features include:

  • Absolute hydrogen specificity (no cross-sensitivity to other gases).

  • Detection range as low as 1–2 ppm with long-term stability.

  • Compliance with Q/GDW 1535-2015 (Technical Specifications for Substation Equipment Online Monitoring).

Applications: Hydrogen monitoring in LPAS (Laser Photoacoustic Spectroscopy) and TDLAS (Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy) devices.
